HiptopClean - Fix Hiptop/Sidekick Themes on OSX

Lately, a lot of people have been using Cocktail or FinderClean to delete the hidden files created by OS X that break compatibility with themes on your Hiptop3. While these applications work, they do not have a 100% success rate as there are files still left behind that break themes. HiptopClean is designed to replace FinderClean and Cocktail and clean your device properly.

So, I wrote HiptopClean which will ALWAYS delete the necessary files to make themes work when loading from a Mac

The application is very easy to use. You can view the howto video below or read how to use the application.

If you’re not the video type, here’s a writeup on HiptopClean

Note: I’m going to assume you know how to load themes on your Hiptop. If not, figure it out and come back.

First, HiptopClean is a droplet. (That means you drop something on it ;) )

  • Step 1: Plug in your Hiptop so it shows up on your desktop
Note: Apple’s 10.4.10 fixes the problem with Intel Mac’s and Hiptop’s
  • Step 2: Drag and drop the icon that shows up after plugging in your Hiptop onto HiptopClean
  • Step 3: Click Clean.
  • Step 4: Eject your Hiptop by dragging to the Trash, Ejecting from Finder’s File Menu, or Control click on the icon.
  • Step 5: Enjoy your working themes.
  • A few notes and warnings.

  • NEVER drop on a Hard Drive. I cannot stress this enough. I will not be responsible if you do this.
  • Never unplug your memory card without Ejecting first.
  • If you are the technical type and wonder what HiptopClean is doing. It is using the find command to find every file starting with a “.” and delete it.
